Mamitas Beach Club and north beach after Hurricane Dean
This is a new set of photos taken early on Saturday morning August 25, 2007, five days after Hurricane Dean passed. You'll see differences in the beach, but you'll also see that the north beach in Playa still ranks as one of the best beaches you'll see anywhere.
You'll also see pictures of the Shangra La Caribe, north of Mamitas, and also pictures of the El Tukan beach club just to the south of Mamitas. Further down the beach, you'll see work at the Royal Puerto Real. All these resorts and beach clubs are open for business. The beach erosion south of the new Ultrmar Pier is being repaired. It appears that all repairs are in the final stages with completion expected within a couple days.
